terms / 01Booking & payment

These terms apply to products, hikes, camps and other outdoor activities supplied by The Hike & Co. LLC (“we”, “us”). Read them together with the Safety & Participation Conditions below and the information for your chosen activity before paying.

The activity description sets out the date, meeting point, difficulty, expected duration, age requirements, inclusions, exclusions and price. Ask us before booking if anything is unclear. A booking is confirmed when payment is accepted and we issue confirmation. Payment is due in full unless a different payment schedule is expressly agreed before booking. A declined payment does not confirm a place.

Any trip-specific payment or cancellation schedule, including for an international trip, must be clearly disclosed before payment and identified in your confirmation. Otherwise the standard cancellation policy below applies. No booking term removes rights provided by applicable law.

We aim to keep descriptions and prices accurate. If a material error affects your booking or order, we will explain it and ask whether you accept the correction. If you do not, we will cancel and refund the affected payment.

terms / 02Participation & children

Choose an activity suitable for your fitness, experience and needs. Read the equipment list, disclose relevant safety information privately before participating, and follow the leader’s reasonable safety instructions. We may decline or stop participation where it would create an unreasonable safety risk. Any payment consequences will be assessed fairly in the circumstances and subject to applicable law; removal does not automatically forfeit every refund right.

Children under 18 may attend only where the activity permits their age group and we have accepted their participation. Tell us their names and ages before the activity. A parent or legal guardian must consent, and an accompanying adult approved by that guardian must supervise them throughout. An accompanying adult who is not the guardian must provide evidence of that permission when requested.

Our leaders guide the group; they do not provide a childcare service unless expressly agreed. A guardian’s acknowledgement does not waive a child’s legal rights.

terms / 03Cancellations & changes

For our standard hikes and camps, the following policy applies. The 48-hour period is measured from the confirmed activity start time, using the local time at the activity location. Send requests through the contact channel in your booking confirmation or email us, including your name and booking details. The time your message reaches us determines the notice given.

Credit is recorded against your booking. We will not introduce an expiry date or additional redemption restriction after you have booked unless you agree.

We may cancel, delay or change an activity because of weather, unsafe conditions, access restrictions, official directions or insufficient participants. We will tell you as soon as reasonably practicable. If we make a significant change before the start, such as moving the date or replacing the activity with a substantially different one, you may decline and request a refund of the affected activity payment.

During an activity, the leader may change the route, shorten the itinerary or turn the group back for safety. Summits, exact routes and completion times are not guaranteed. If an activity is cut short or part cannot be delivered, we will consider an appropriate remedy based on the service provided, the circumstances and your legal rights. This is not an automatic “no refund” rule.

Separate flights, accommodation and other arrangements you book yourself are governed by those providers’ terms. Consider suitable cancellation cover. This does not exclude any liability we have under applicable law.

terms / 04Products & returns

Products are subject to availability. We accept voluntary returns of unused products in their original packaging within 14 days of purchase. Contact us within that period with proof of purchase and return the goods as instructed. After checking the return, we will refund the product price. You pay return shipping for a change-of-mind return.

These voluntary conditions do not restrict your legal rights if goods are defective, unsafe, misdescribed or otherwise fail to meet legal requirements. Contact us promptly about a problem so we can arrange the remedy required by law, which may include repair, replacement or refund. Change-of-mind packaging and shipping conditions do not override those rights.

Use equipment only for its intended purpose and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Ask for guidance if you are unsure; purchasing equipment does not establish that it is suitable for every activity.

terms / 05Food & allergies

Food or drinks are included only where stated in the activity description. Tell us privately about allergies and dietary requirements before booking, or immediately if they arise later. We will explain whether we can accommodate them; do not assume a special meal is available without confirmation.

Shared preparation or serving areas may present cross-contact risks. We cannot promise an allergen-free environment unless expressly confirmed. Bring prescribed emergency medication and follow your clinician’s advice. Your responsibility to disclose an allergy does not remove our obligations to handle food safely and provide accurate information.

terms / 06Insurance & responsibility

Outdoor activities involve risks even when reasonable precautions are taken. We are responsible for exercising reasonable care in organising and delivering our services. Participants must take reasonable care of themselves and others and follow the Safety & Participation Conditions.

Do not assume that your booking includes personal accident, medical, rescue, evacuation or travel insurance. Any cover included for a particular activity will be expressly described in the booking information, with relevant limits and exclusions. Our business insurance, if applicable, is not a substitute for your personal cover.

Check that your own policy covers the activity, destination, altitude, medical needs and any rescue or evacuation costs. Keep personal belongings secure. Responsibility for loss, damage, injury or other harm will be determined under applicable law; these terms do not impose a blanket exclusion of our liability.

Nothing in these terms or the safety acknowledgement excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes your mandatory consumer rights.

terms / 07Your information & WhatsApp

We use relevant booking, contact, attendance and signed acknowledgement information to deliver activities, communicate with you, manage safety, keep necessary business records and handle incidents or claims. Relevant health information should be shared privately and accessed only by people who need it for the stated safety purpose.

Information may be handled by necessary service providers, such as booking, payment, communications and secure document-storage providers, and shared with emergency responders or authorities when justified or required. We apply appropriate safeguards and explain the relevant processing in our privacy information. Optional marketing use requires a separate choice.

If we offer an event WhatsApp group, joining is optional. Other members may see your phone number, profile information and messages. Contact us for essential trip information privately if you prefer not to join. Closing a group does not erase other members’ messages, saved contacts, screenshots or backups.

We retain information only as needed for the stated purposes and applicable legal obligations, including necessary incident and booking records. Ending a trip does not mean all records are immediately deleted. Contact us to ask about our privacy practices, applicable retention periods or your data rights, including access, correction and deletion where available under law.

terms / 08Photos & marketing

Permission to use identifiable photographs or videos of you for our website, social media or other promotional materials is optional and requested separately. Refusing permission does not prevent you from joining an activity. Participation or signing the safety acknowledgement alone is not promotional consent.

For identifiable images of a child, we require separate permission from the parent or legal guardian. Tell the leader about your choice so we can manage photography appropriately. Other participants must respect requests not to be photographed.

You may withdraw promotional permission by contacting us. We will stop new uses based on that permission and take reasonable steps to remove content we control where required. Withdrawal does not undo lawful past use, and we cannot guarantee removal of copies independently shared by others. Necessary incident records are handled separately under our privacy practices.

terms / 09Contact, versions & disputes

Questions, cancellation requests, privacy requests and complaints can be sent to info@thehikeco.com. Include your booking reference where relevant, but avoid sending medical details to a public group.

The version supplied when you book applies to that booking, together with any changes you expressly agree. Future updates will not retrospectively remove your existing rights. Reasonable safety instructions may be updated to address conditions on the day.

These terms are governed by the applicable laws of the United Arab Emirates. Disputes may be referred to the competent courts in accordance with applicable jurisdiction rules. Nothing prevents you from contacting a relevant consumer protection authority or exercising a mandatory right in another applicable jurisdiction.

safety / 01Understand the activity & risks

These conditions apply to our hikes, treks, camps and other outdoor activities. Read the description and briefing for your specific activity: this general document does not replace an activity-specific assessment, briefing or required consent.

Outdoor hazards can include slips, falls, loose rock, uneven or exposed terrain, falling objects, heat, dehydration, cold, sun exposure, sudden weather changes, flash flooding, wildlife, insects, getting lost and limited communications. Camping adds risks associated with darkness, fire, cooking equipment, food, sanitation and overnight weather. Injury, illness, property damage and, in serious cases, death are possible.

You acknowledge the inherent risks relevant to the chosen activity and agree to follow reasonable precautions. This is not an acceptance of every possible risk or a release of liability for our failure to meet obligations imposed by law.

safety / 02Fitness, health & medication

Consider the advertised distance, elevation, terrain, pace, temperature and duration before booking. If you are unsure whether you can participate safely, seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional and discuss any adjustments with us in advance.

Privately tell us about medical conditions, injuries, allergies, medication effects or other needs that could affect your participation or emergency care. Provide accurate information and update us if it changes. We will discuss suitability and feasible adjustments rather than assume that a condition automatically prevents participation.

Carry your prescribed medication and know how to use it. Tell the leader promptly if you feel unwell, injured, unusually tired, dizzy, confused or unable to continue. Do not conceal symptoms to stay with the group. Do not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs or medication that makes the activity unsafe.

safety / 03Equipment & group conduct

• Bring the footwear, clothing, water, food and equipment specified for the activity, including lighting and weather protection where required.
• Attend the briefing, follow the agreed route and stay with the group. Do not leave, take a shortcut or enter an unbriefed area without telling the leader and agreeing a safe plan.
• Follow reasonable instructions to stop, rest, turn back or change course. Tell the leader immediately about hazards, damaged equipment or a missing person.
• Do not climb exposed features, approach cliff edges or enter flood channels against instructions. Do not enter moving floodwater.
• Respect local rules, access restrictions, other visitors, wildlife and the environment. Take litter away and avoid damaging vegetation or cultural sites.
• Behave respectfully. Harassment, violence, dangerous behaviour and deliberate disregard of safety instructions may result in participation being stopped.

Our team will consider a safe return or handover when stopping participation. A person needing assistance must not simply be left behind.

safety / 04Camping & overnight activities

Use only the agreed camping area and keep tents, guy lines and paths positioned to reduce trips and other hazards. Follow instructions about shelter, sanitation, food storage, quiet areas and overnight check-ins. Tell the leader before leaving camp.

Fires and cooking equipment may be used only where permitted and authorised by the leader, with suitable separation from tents, vegetation and fuel. Never use barbecues, charcoal, generators or fuel-burning cooking or heating equipment inside a tent or other enclosed sleeping space. Keep children away from flames, hot surfaces and fuel.

Use lights after dark, keep footwear available, and check for hazards before moving around camp. Follow the briefing about drinking water, washing, toilets and waste. Report changing weather, unsafe equipment, smoke or fire immediately.

safety / 05Water, altitude & other activities

Swimming, water crossings, climbing, technical scrambling, ropes activities and similar activities are included only when expressly stated and specifically briefed. Do not assume they form part of a hike or camp, and do not undertake them independently during a guided activity without an agreed safe arrangement.

Where relevant, follow the qualified provider’s instructions, use required protective equipment and disclose swimming ability or experience accurately. High-altitude trips require separate preparation, acclimatisation guidance and symptom reporting. A general signature does not replace those arrangements.

For international trips, check entry documents, destination requirements and appropriate travel cover before travelling. Where transport is included, follow the vehicle operator’s safety instructions and use available seat belts. Separate supplier requirements must be made clear before the relevant service.

safety / 06Children & supervision

Before the start, identify every accompanying child under 18, give their age and identify the adult supervising them. The parent or legal guardian must approve participation and receive the relevant activity information. A different accompanying adult must have the guardian’s authority and be accepted by us for that arrangement.

The supervising adult must stay with the children, monitor their comfort and hydration, help them follow instructions, and keep them away from hazards such as edges, water, traffic, fires and cooking equipment. Tell the leader promptly if a child is struggling or missing. The activity’s minimum age and suitability requirements still apply.

Signing for a child confirms the adult’s authority and supervision responsibilities; it does not surrender the child’s legal rights or remove our duty of care.

safety / 07Emergencies & assistance

Provide an accurate emergency contact before the start, let that person know you have named them, and tell us about any change. Share information needed for emergency care privately with the team.

If an emergency occurs, you authorise us to seek emergency assistance and, where you cannot communicate, share information reasonably needed to protect you. First aid is provided within the responder’s training and available resources; it is not a substitute for professional medical care. Emergency treatment remains subject to applicable law and medical decision-making.

Remote locations can delay rescue, medical treatment or evacuation, and mobile coverage may be unavailable. Do not assume immediate evacuation is possible.

You may be responsible for reasonable medical, rescue or transport charges where payable by you under applicable law and your insurance arrangements. This does not transfer costs to you that we are legally responsible for or exclude a claim you may have against us.

safety / 08Your acknowledgement

Before participating, you will be asked to confirm that:

• You have read the applicable Terms & Conditions, these Safety & Participation Conditions and the activity information, and have had an opportunity to ask questions.
• You understand the relevant inherent risks and will follow reasonable safety instructions.
• You have considered your fitness and privately provided relevant health and emergency contact information.
• Any accompanying children have been declared, guardian permission has been obtained, and you understand the agreed supervision arrangements.
• The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

Your signature records this acknowledgement. It is not a blanket waiver of legal rights, a guarantee of fitness, or permission to use your image for marketing. Optional media permission is handled separately.

We retain our responsibilities under applicable law. Nothing in this acknowledgement excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or removes your mandatory rights.
