Salalah Hideaway
A 3-day escape into green Dhofar, timed differently. We’re skipping Salalah’s peak summer rush and heading there at the tail end of Khareef — when the landscapes are still green, the mountains are still carrying the season, and the experience feels calmer and less crowded.
Why We Chose These Dates
Most people head to Salalah during the busiest weeks of Khareef. We’re doing it differently. Our dates sit right at the end of the season, giving us a chance to enjoy the green landscapes and cooler mountain scenery without building the trip around the peak-season crowds.
Dhofar is still carrying its Khareef greenery across the wadis, mountains and viewpoints.
We travel after the main summer rush for a more relaxed way to experience Salalah.
One day explores the dramatic western coastline; the next takes us into the greener east and mountains.
Flights are booked separately by each participant on our recommended group flights from Abu Dhabi to Salalah and back.
A Madabi restaurant lunch on Friday and a relaxed picnic lunch during Saturday’s East tour.
Two hotel nights and a planned route mean you can focus on the experience while the logistics are handled.
Green Salalah, Without Chasing Peak Season
This isn’t about squeezing into Salalah at its busiest. We’ve chosen 18–20 September so we can catch the final stretch of the Khareef landscape while travelling after the biggest summer crowds.
Over the weekend we’ll move from high coastal viewpoints and wild beaches in the west to green wadis, sinkholes, springs and mountain viewpoints in the east.
About Salalah
Every Khareef, Dhofar transforms into a completely different side of the Arabian Peninsula: green mountains, flowing wadis, misty viewpoints and a dramatic coastline. This trip is timed for the final stretch of that transformation, when the scenery is still green but the peak-season rush has started to ease.
Trip Schedule
Fly together from Abu Dhabi to Salalah. Arrival at 09:50. Once the group is ready, we start exploring the western side of Salalah.
Our route takes us to Shaat Viewpoint, Hidden Beach Viewpoint, Fazayah Beach, and Mughsail Blowholes & Marneef Cave. Expect dramatic roads, high coastal viewpoints and some of Dhofar’s wildest scenery.
Stop for a local Madabi lunch before continuing the day’s exploration.
Return to Salalah, check in at the hotel, enjoy dinner and rest after a full first day.
Breakfast at the hotel, then head out for a full-day East Salalah tour.
Explore Wadi Darbat, Tawi Atair Sinkhole, Jebel Samhan Viewpoint, Taqah Cliff Viewpoint and Ayn Athum.
We’ll slow things down with a relaxed picnic lunch during the day, surrounded by the landscapes we came to Salalah for.
Return to the hotel, enjoy dinner and rest for the night.
Breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer to Salalah International Airport.
Fly together from Salalah to Abu Dhabi, arriving at 12:15.

FAQ
Why are we going in September instead of peak Khareef?
That is exactly the point of this trip. We want the green side of Salalah without building the experience around the busiest summer weeks. Mid-to-late September gives us a quieter window while the landscape is still carrying much of its Khareef greenery.
Will Salalah still be green?
We are travelling at the tail end of Khareef, so the landscape is expected to still carry seasonal greenery. As always with natural conditions, the exact level of greenery, waterfalls, mist and visibility depends on the season and weather.
Do we all have to take the same flight?
Yes. Flights are not included in the trip price, so each participant books their own ticket. However, everyone must book the recommended flights listed on this page so the group arrives and departs together.
Is this a hiking trip?
This is primarily a nature and road-trip experience with viewpoints, beaches, wadis and short walks rather than a long-distance hiking trip.
Are the viewpoints and waterfalls guaranteed to have clear visibility or flowing water?
No. Salalah’s mist, clouds, water flow and visibility are natural and weather-dependent. The route may be adjusted if conditions require it.
Catch Salalah before the green fades.
Two sides of Dhofar, three easy days, and a quieter window at the end of Khareef.
